อนุสาวรีย์ทหารอาสาสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1 ตั้งอยู่กึ่งกลางสนามสามเหลี่ยมทางมุมตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือของท้องสนามหลวง สนามสามเหลี่ยมนี้เคยเป็นสนามไชยของพระราชวังบวรสถานมงคลพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้สร้างอนุสาวรีย์เพื่อบรรจุอัฐิของทหารอาสาที่เสียชีวิตระหว่างปฏิบัติราชการสงครามในสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1อนุสาวรีย์นี้สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอเจ้าฟ้ากรมพระยานริศรานุวัติวงศ์ทรงออกแบบและหม่อมเจ้าประวิชชุมสายทรงสร้างพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวเสด็จพระราชดำเนินทรงประกอบพิธีบรรจุอัฐิทหารอาสาที่ฐานอนุสาวรีย์เมื่อวันที่ 24 กันยายนพ.ศ. 2462

ป็นเจดีย์ประยุกต์มาจากสถาปัตยกรรมแบบศรีวิชัยตัวอนุสาวรีย์เป็นหินขัดสีขาว ฐานปัทม์และเรือนธาตุย่อมุมกึ่งกลางเรือนธาตุเจาะลึกคล้ายช่องประตูจารึกอักษรสีดำกล่าวถึงสาเหตุที่ประเทศไทยต้องเข้าร่วมสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1การเดินทางของทหารอาสาและนามผู้เสียชีวิตหน้าบันซุ้มประตูประดับลายปูนปั้นช่อดอกไม้กินรี และตัวเหราส่วนยอดของอนุสาวรีย์เป็นระฆังสลักรูปจักรมุมทั้งสี่มุมประดับปูนปั้นรูปจำลองอนุสาวรีย์ ฐานล่างลดหลั่น 3 ชั้นล้อมรอบด้วยเสาหินขัดทรงสี่เหลี่ยมหัวเม็ดเชื่อมต่อกันด้วยโซ่เหล็กสีดำเว้นเฉพาะทางขึ้น 4 ด้านรอบนอกเทพื้นคอนกรีตอีก 2 ชั้น
