อนุสาวรีย์ชัยสมรภูมิเป็นอนุสรณ์เพื่อรำลึกถึงทหารบก ทหารเรือ ทหารอากาศ ตำรวจ และพลเรือน 59 นาย ที่ต่อสู้ในเหตุการณ์กรณีพิพาทกับอินโดจีนของฝรั่งเศสในช่วงเดือนมกราคม พ.ศ. 2484โดยมีหม่อมหลวงปุ่ม มาลากุล เป็นผู้ออกแบบอนุสาวรีย์และจอมพลแปลก พิบูลสงคราม ได้ทำพิธีเปิดเมื่อวันที่ 24 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2485

สร้างด้วยคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็ก ประดับหินอ่อน มีรูปเป็นดาบปลายปืน 5 เล่มรวมกันมีรูปวีรชน 5 เหล่าประดิษฐานทั้ง 5 ด้านมีแผ่นทองแดงจารึกพระนามและนามผู้เสียชีวิต และล้อมรั้วโดยรอบอนุสาวรีย์บริเวณรอบนอกทำเป็นถนนและทำเป็นวงเวียนขนาดใหญ่
