วัดชัยมงคลตั้งอยู่เลขที่ 375 ถนนพระรามที่ 1 แขวงรองเมือง เขตปทุมวัน กรุงเทพมหานคร สังกัดคณะสงฆ์มหานิกาย วัดชัยมงคล หรือที่ชาวบ้านเรียกกันมาแต่เดิมว่า วัดช่างแสง สร้างขึ้นเมื่อประมาณ พ.ศ.2390 สมัยรัชกาลที่ 3 แต่เดิมที่ทางด้านทิศเหนือของวัดเป็นหมู่บ้านของพวกช่างตีเหล็กเป็นส่วนมาก และได้เคยทำพระแสงถวายเป็นที่พอพระราชหฤทัย จึงได้พระราชทานนามชาวบ้านเหล่านี้ว่า ช่างสิบหมู่ ครั้งเมื่อได้สร้างวัดขึ้นมาแล้วจึงขนานนามวัดตามลักษณะภูมิประเทศที่ตั้งวัดว่า วัดช่างแสง ต่อมาได้เปลี่ยนนามเป็น วัดชัยมงคล ตามที่ปรากฏในปัจจุบัน วัดนี้ได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมาเมื่อประมาณ พ.ศ. 2404
